Developing Youth Character and Leadership in Northern Nevada

What is Scouting?

Our Scouts are located all over Northern Nevada and Eastern California. They are learning how to navigate their world through outdoor education programs that teach positive social values, grit, integrity, and useful skills. We do what we do because we want our youth to be good citizens and live happy, successful lives.

Our Youth Programs

We offer consistent, year-round schedules across all of our programs that fit the busy lives of our youth and their families.

Scouts show measurable growth in resilience and social confidence compared to non-Scouts, providing a ‘third space’ outside of the stresses of school.

A study of Scouting America by Tufts University looked at six character attributes of 2000+ Scouts and non-Scouts over three years and found…

The more time kids spend in Scouting the better the outcomes in character development.

Including:

Scouts launching paper rockets

Scouts are also more likely to embrace positive social values than non-Scouts.

Those who attend meetings regularly report higher outcomes in the six categories when compared to Scouts with lower attendance.

To ensure the safety of participants, Scouting America trains leaders to use the four points of SAFE when delivering the Scouting program.

  • Supervision by qualified and trustworthy adults.
  • Assessment of activity risks.
  • Fitness and Skill of participants are reviewed to ensure all participants can take part safely.
  • Equipment and Environment are checked periodically.
